Values represent what is sacred to us.
They are the interconnected principles that work together as a whole that create a container to do good work in a good way.
They bring life to our work within the Consciousness Collective and we embrace and empower the spirit and essence of these values as our responsibility to ourselves and others.
The choice of Indigenous values is both intentional and personal. Without teachings from Elders, Traditional Knowledge Keepers, Wisdom Carriers, as well as from the land, waters and skies, I would not be the person that I am today. These teachings have brought me balance while navigating the waters of life. And so it made sense for me to weave them into my work here at the Consciousness Collective.
An Ojibwe value of walking with honesty in one’s life. It is a sacred reminder to be honest with yourself spiritually, emotionally, physically and mentally. In this honesty, we are being called to align our thoughts, feelings and actions to be the truest, most honest and balanced expression of ourselves to promote wellness and safety for ourselves and others.
A Hawaiian value of reconciliation or ‘to make right’ or putting consciousness and pathways in proper order through a clearing and learning process of presence, surrender, responsibility, gratitude and love. Within this reconciliation is a recognition of the reciprocal nature of our energy and the importance of holding space for oneself and for others to create a better condition for all.
A Cree/Métis value of the recognition of the awesomeness, the magic and the beauty in a moment that creates a sense of connection to something cosmic or bigger than ourselves. This value creates space for amazement and an acknowledgement of synchronicities at work that lend to a greater understanding of the mystery of life.
The Mi’kmaq value of seeing from multiple perspectives or ways of knowing that illuminates new understandings, learnings, wisdom and pathways to serve the collective good. This value reflects the strength in being curious about the experience of others and being open to learning to create different positive possibilities for co-existence.
A Cree value paying reverence to the interconnectedness in natural systems, with the understanding that we are all related and in kinship with one another. These relations have a breadth and depth that extends to everything in creation: the lands, waters, air, plants, animals, elements. This value honours the complexity within these interconnections and interdependences, and in this honouring seeks to strengthen the connections and therefore the community as a whole.
A Coast Salish value paying respect to how we come together to collaborate with one another. It recognizes leadership within each one of us and the knowledge that if we come with an alignment of consciousness (of mind and heart), we can collaborate, cooperate and create in unity with one another.
A Kwakwaka’wakw value of coming together in a space of right thought, right action. When we are in this space together, we can make wise decisions that consider not only our intentions, but the impacts that our decisions and actions have on others.
